Pyxis Mobile Announces 2008 “Mobility in the Workforce” Survey Results from 4th Annual Financial Mobility Summit

* 60% of attendees see growth in the deployment of mobile devices
* 86% of attendees report significant productivity and efficiency gains when employees have mobile access to data

Waltham, MA – December 1, 2008 – Pyxis Mobile, the leading provider of innovative wireless applications for the Financial Services industry, concluded its three day Financial Mobility Summit (FMS) in Orlando, FL, on November 14th. The successful event included a “Mobility in the Workforce” survey of all attendees, with findings clearly indicating that mobility is indispensable as Financial Services firms look to increase efficiency and grow the top line.

Leading executives across the Financial Services and Insurance industries responded to a series of questions on the state of business mobility. Half indicated that, despite the economic downturn, mobility spending will remain level or grow beyond last year’s levels. A majority expect increased growth in the deployment of mobile devices, with more deployments this year than last.

Mobile devices have proven to be critical to operations. A full 100% of respondents indicated that mobile access to business data increases productivity and efficiency, with 86% describing those gains as significant.

Highlights from the Pyxis Mobile Financial Mobility Summit included:

  • Bill Chambers, author of Go the Distance and Regional Vice President of Manulife Investments, portrayed the parallels between the challenges and successes in his incredible life story with those faced in complex business situations;
  • Michael King, Research Director at Gartner Research, presented his outlook on mobility, and provided guidance for firms toward building a successful mobile strategy;
  • Sheryl Kingstone, Director of Enterprise Research at The Yankee Group, delivered a session on wireless and its shift from a nice to have to a need to have, along with practical advice for successful mobile projects;
  • Todd Christy, CTO and co-founder of Pyxis Mobile delivered his annual State of the Mobile Market session, highlighting significant mobile advances over the past year, ground-breaking mobile technologies on the horizon, and Pyxis Mobile’s latest product advances.

The theme of the event, echoed by attendees and speakers, was that wireless applications drive efficiency and top-line growth. “We are pleased that the fourth annual Financial Mobility Summit was a resounding success,” says Bob Mazzarella, CEO of Pyxis Mobile. “We got a clear message from our customers and partners that this was a must-have conference, and our results show that the content, one-on-one interaction and networking was, as in past years, invaluable. We look forward to being in Orlando again next year and building on our success in 2008.”

Attendees had this to say about past programs:

“This is one of the best conferences I have attended this year. The location was great and the speakers were thought provoking. I can’t remember a conference where I had more new ideas on how to help our company. I appreciate that most of the presenters had real information, not just stock marketing pitches.”

“The event was great. Yes, we did get a chance to make some good contacts, and we appreciate that! Looking forward to attend again next year.”

“As someone who attends several conferences each year including many of the largest technology user conferences, I found FMS to be the most important to me and my business, based on the content, the learning, and the networking."

“Congratulations on putting together a great conference! We felt it was a top quality event and we are very pleased with the people we met.”
